Don’t Leave It Too Late!
APC Written Exam Prep Starts NOW!
If you're sitting the APC Written Exam this year (or resitting after a tough attempt), now is the time to get serious about preparation.
Too many interns underestimate the exam’s difficulty and try to cram at the last minute—don’t make that mistake.
Here’s how to set yourself up for success starting today:
✅ Create a Study Timeline – Break down the syllabus into weekly study goals. Aim to revise core topics like cardiovascular, endocrine, and infectious diseases within the first few weeks. Use past papers to track your progress.
✅ Master Time-Sensitive Calculations – The exam will test your ability to solve dosing, renal adjustments, and infusion rate problems under time pressure. Dedicate 20-30 mins daily to practice, focusing on accuracy and speed.
✅ Refine Your Critical Thinking – APC questions aren’t just about recall—they assess how you apply knowledge in clinical scenarios. Review real patient cases, challenge yourself with “what would you do next?” questions, and practice structuring clear, logical responses.
✅ Simulate Exam Conditions Early – Set a timer and attempt at least one full-length practice test every week leading up to the exam. This will train you to pace yourself and manage stress effectively.
To make this process smoother, I’ve put together a Cheat Sheet that highlights key exam topics and strategies to help you stay on track.
