Clash of the Titans: Doctors šŸ©ŗVS Pharmacists šŸ’Š?

Who do you think will win?

The age old tale about the clashing of doctors and pharmacistsā€¦

Physicians vs Apothecaries

Practitioner vs Chemist.

However you want to phrase it, the mainstream way of thought has always pitted the two disciplines head to head.

Have you ever asked yourself, why is that?

Why is it that we NEED to have this inflamed, predisposed and almost engrained idea of the 2 worlds not working well together?

The idea that doctors and pharmacists are constantly trying to one up each other and the frequent passive aggressiveness that hangs over it all is simply, (and mind my French here),  utter CRAP!

In this day and age, modern medicine and public health policies are being scrapped and rewritten at an EXTRAORDINARY rate, thanks to a little global pandemicā€¦

So the lines are starting to blur between what the role truly is of a doctor and a pharmacist when it comes to keeping our patients' health a top priority!

My opinion when it comes to this dilemma, we need to ultimately remember, that at the end of the day, what impact do WE as health care professionals have on the patientā€™s health?

How do we bounce off each other and find the best solutions to maximise results?

Thatā€™s why terms such as a ā€œmultidisciplinaryā€ team work wonders in modern healthcare.

We need to abandon the top down hierarchical approach, which hinders communication between healthcare professionals and can, will and HAS lead to multiple 100% fully avoidable patient-drug interactions and unnecessary hospitalisations.

We HAVE to establish a team like mentality to the fullest extent!

Pharmacists, Doctors, Nurses, Physios, Dentists, OTs and the list goes onā€¦

All of the above are your A GRADE team roster fighting on the side of the patient, working united to achieve the BEST health outcome for the patient!

What do you think about the dynamic between all healthcare professionals?

Do you think there is more to be done?
